Upgrade from Associate Member to Professional Member

To become a Professional Member of QGCA, you must first be an Associate Member.

Professional Members must meet the following criteria:

  • are currently registered as a teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers (“QCT”); and
  • have completed a course of post-graduate tertiary training which included studies in educational guidance and counselling practices and is recognised by the Executive as suitable training for guidance and counselling duties, and
  • have performed duties recognised by the Executive Committee as quality guidance and counselling practices for a period equivalent to a minimum of twelve (12) months full-time;

OR

  • have other training of an educational nature and/or practical guidance and counselling experience which the Executive Committee recognises as suitable for membership of the Association; and
  • either hold a current blue card issued in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screen) Act 2000 (Qld) or are registered as a health practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (“AHPRA”).

To demonstrate the above criteria, please submit the following information to memberships@qgca.org.au:

  • a verification form signed by one of the following: Senior Guidance Officer, Clinical Supervisor, Current QGCA Professional Member or Supervisor in Australia (if you currently work overseas),
  • a copy of the relevant post-graduate training in guidance practices qualification, and
  • ensure you have submitted your QCOT number OR provide evidence of relevant training and submit a blue card number or AHPRA number.
